If your pond’s gone green and someone’s told you to try an AquaSphere PRO, you’ll want to know what you’re actually throwing in there. These are the questions we get asked most.
What is the AquaSphere PRO?
A biodegradable sphere you throw into your pond. Inside is a proprietary blend of beneficial bacteria and enzymes that treats your pond from the bottom up.
Most people looking at a green pond are looking at the surface, but what’s feeding the algae is down in the sludge on the bottom. Once you throw in your AquaSphere PRO, the released bacteria and enzymes chew through the organic matter and use up the nitrogen and phosphorus in the sludge.
What can it be used for?
It can be used in ponds, dams, lakes, stock water, and ornamental water features, from 3,800 litres up to 3.6 million. It is safe for fish, plants, birds, livestock, pets and people.
If your pond has gone green, turned cloudy or started to smell, that’s excess nutrients at work. The AquaSphere PRO works at the bottom of the pond, breaking down the sludge, debris and organic matter that cloud your water.
Is it easy to use?
Take it out of the bag, then throw it in. No mixing or measuring required.
The AquaSphere PRO is a 30-day time-release formula, so you’ll want a fresh one each month. The beneficial bacteria only live seven to ten days, and the continuous release is what keeps a steady supply going for the full thirty.
Don’t run it alongside algaecides because the two will work against each other.
Will it work on my pond?
Yes, but sometimes it looks worse before it starts to clear up. It is normal for it to take four to six weeks.
Mahia Golf Club treated a 1.8 million litre course pond with Aquaspheres alone and had the algae down inside a month. A rural dam in Kerikeri showed a visible difference at eleven days.
